About

Vision: Connecting stakeholders in sustainable microirrigation to increase agricultural
productivity.

Mission: This microirrigation symposium will (1) provide a forum for irrigation
stakeholders to share their knowledge & experience in sustainable microirrigation (MI)
management to permit water/energy security; (2) enable higher crop productivity with less
water & energy; (3) provide on-farm interventions to tackle energy & water scarcity.
Definition of Sustainable Microirrigation (MI: drip/trickle; surface & subsurface): It is
the slow application of water on, above, or below the soil by surface drip, subsurface drip,
bubbler, and microsprinkler systems [Lamm 2006]. Water is applied as discrete or
continuous drops, tiny streams, or miniature spray through emitters or applicators placed
along a water delivery line adjacent to the plant row [ASAE Standards 2001, S526.2]”.
